This Workplace Food Safety & Hygiene Training course is designed to give all participants a greater understanding of their responsibilities in respect of Food Safety & Hygiene in the Food Business. It is also a mandatory module on the National Vocational Certificate Level 5 in Butchering. (This course is equivalent to the EHOA Primary Food Safety Course)

  • Legislation relating to Food Hygiene
  • Prevention of spoilage and contamination during delivery, storage, preparation, cooking & Hot-holding
  • Personal Hygiene & good Hygiene Practices
  • Workplace Cleaning, housekeeping & Pest control
  • The importance of temperature control

Guardian Safety Trainers

Guardian Safety is a FETAC registered training provider and our trainers are fully qualified Food Safety professionals having achieved Level 6 in the National Framework of Qualifications. All Course instructors hold a minimum of Train the Trainer qualification.

Who Should Attend

This Workplace Food Safety & Hygiene Training course is designed for all those working in the food business, including van drivers, food warehousing/storage employees, food producers, anyone involved in the preparation and serving of food, kitchen staff, deli workers, catering staff and those in the hospitality industry. 


Participants are required to complete a portfolio of tasks which will be assessed. 

FETAC Level 5 Workplace Food Safety & Hygiene Certification

A ‘FETAC Level 5 Certificate in Workplace Food Safety & Hygiene’ is awarded to participants who successfully complete this course.

Refresher Training & Certification Validity Period

It is recommended to refresh training at intervals not greater than 3 years. 

Additional Information

DVD and lap/top projector are used. Extensive notes on Safety Representative are available to all participants. 

Special Instructions for this Course

Course is delivered through English and a good understanding of the language is a requirement.
