Abrasive Wheels Instructor Training Course
Our 1-day Abrasive Wheels Instructor Training course equips learners with the essential teaching skills and subject knowledge needed to train others in the safe use of abrasive wheels. Participants will acquire a variety of teaching methods and public speaking skills, enhancing their effectiveness as instructors. This training enables them to develop, implement, and assess internal company training sessions. The course covers the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and other relevant legislation.
How is the training deliverd
The training is delivered in person or online via a live virtual classroom.

Time: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Venue: Guardian Safety, Unit C1, Centrepoint Business Park, Oak Road, Dublin 12
The Abrasive Wheels Instructor Training Course can also be delivered privately at your premises at any time.
The Abrasive Wheels Instructor Refresher Training is also delivered on the same day, for those who need to refresh their Abrasive Wheels Instructor Training.
Aim
The aim of this abrasive wheels instructor course is to teach participants how to instruct and train others in the theory and practice of safe use of Abrasive Wheels to comply with the “Abrasive Wheels Regulations 1982” (SI 30 / 1982).
Abrasive Wheels Instructor Course Objectives
Upon completion of this training participants will be able to:-
- Instruct and train employees in the safe selection, setting, and use of abrasive wheels
- Understand the legal aspects of Abrasive Wheel Regulations that relate to training
- Design, implement and evaluate internal company training sessions
Abrasive Wheels Instructor Course Content
- Abrasive wheels regulations
- Identifying the hazards of working with abrasive wheels
- Selecting the correct wheel for the job
- Inspection & testing of abrasive wheels
- Guarding grinding and cutting operations
- Dressing and truing of abrasive wheels
- Functions of components, flanges, blotters, etc
- Differences between grinding and cutting operations
- Designing a training session
- Using training aids
- Evaluating learning and providing feedback
- All participants will gain practical experience in delivering training
Certification
On successful completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate titled ‘Abrasive Wheels Instructor Training’ which will be awarded by Guardian Safety. This Cert is considered a lifetime certification. We recommend refresher training at intervals no greater than 5 years to keep up to date with the latest changes in legislation and industry best practices.
We issue a digital certification & all certificates are kept on file and can be re-sent if misplaced.
Prerequisets
All participants should have previously completed abrasive wheel training.
All participants must be fluent in English.
If you have opted to attend online via Zoom you will need a PC, Laptop, Smartphone, etc. with audio/video & Internet. Ensure a browser is running correctly (Google Chrome, firefox, etc) or the Zoom Application is installed.
If you have opted to attend in person, registration will begin 15 minutes prior to the start time of the course.

Guardian Safety is a QQI-registered training provider, and all our trainers are fully qualified Abrasive Wheels Instructors. Each instructor holds a ‘Train the Trainer’ certificate and is a qualified Health & Safety Practitioner.
