Our Abrasive Wheels Instructor Training 1-day course is designed to provide learners with the necessary teaching skills and subject knowledge to train others on how to use abrasive wheels safely. All participants will come away with a range of teaching methods and public speaking skills that will enhance their abilities as an instructor. This will enable them to produce, implement, and evaluate internal company training sessions. This course covers the requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 and all other relevant legislation.
This course is suitable for people assigned with responsibilities for training within your organization or those involved in training on a consultative basis. As a legal requirement, all those who are involved in the purchase and selection, storage and handling, mounting, dressing, and use of abrasive wheels will need to undertake the course.
Guardian Safety is a QQI registered training provider and all our trainers are fully qualified Abrasive Wheels Instructors. All course instructors hold a ‘Train the Trainer certificate and are qualified Health & Safety Practitioners.
All who are successful in the course will receive the Guardian Safety ‘Abrasive Wheels Instructor’’ Certificate.
The Abrasive Wheels Instructor Training course can also be delivered to your premises at any time.

Course Duration: 1 Day
Times: 9.30 a.m. – 5.00 p.m
Venue: Participants can select their preferred attendance method, either participating online through Zoom or attending in person.
The Abrasive Wheels Instructor Refresher Training is also delivered on the same day, for those who need to refresh their Abrasive Wheels Instructor Training.
Abrasive Wheels Instructor Course Objectives: On completion of this Abrasive Wheels Course, participants will be able to:-
- Instruct and train employees in the safe selection, setting, and use of abrasive wheels
- Understand the legal aspects of Abrasive Wheel Regulations that relate to training
- Design, implement and evaluate internal company training sessions
Abrasive Wheels Instructor Training Course Content:
- Abrasive wheels regulations
- Identifying the hazards of working with abrasive wheels
- Selecting the correct wheel for the job
- Inspection & testing of abrasive wheels
- Guarding grinding and cutting operations
- Dressing and truing of abrasive wheels
- Functions of components, flanges, blotters, etc
- Differences between grinding and cutting operations
- Designing a training session
- Using training aids
- Evaluating learning and providing feedback
- All participants will gain practical experience in delivering training

Who Should Attend: Abrasive Wheels Instructor Training is legally required for all those who are involved in the purchase & selection, storage & handling, mounting, dressing, and use of abrasive wheels. This includes either fixed (e.g. Bench grinders or polishers) or portable (e.g. angle grinders) abrasive wheels. This Abrasive wheel instructor training course is ideal for people assigned with responsibility for training within your organization or those involved in training on a consultative basis.
Assessment: All participants must complete a practical and theory test.
Refresher Training / Certification Validity period: We recommend that should refresh the instructor training at intervals no longer than every 5 years
Course Requirements: All participants should have previously completed abrasive wheel training.
Additional Information: DVD and laptop/projector presentations are used. Notes on the Abrasive Wheels Instructors Course are provided for all course participants.
Certification: Guardian Safety “Abrasive Wheels Instructor” Certificate is awarded to participants on the successful completion of this course.
Special Instructions for This Course: All participants should have previously completed Abrasive Wheels training.
