About Our Manual Handling Course
Due to COVID-19, our Manual Handling Course is now being delivered fully online for your safety. To achieve this, we offer a blended learning experience. Each participant will be given access to our self managed online learning portal to complete the theory part of the course which can be done at your own pace as there no time limits or set times. Each participant will also be scheduled in for an online video session with our in-house trainer to complete the practical training. this will be held via Zoom or Microsoft Teams
Our Manual Handling Course is designed to provide a thorough understanding of Manual Handling and aims to ensure that employees understand the hazards and how to reduce the risk of injury.
All staff that engage in manual handling activities such as lifting, carrying, pulling, or pushing within their role must be given training in the safe moving of loads, this is to comply with Part 4 Chapter 2 of the ‘’General Application Regulation 2007, Manual Handling of Loads’’.
Manual Handling Training Course Content
The theory training will be completed via our online self managed training portal. Its broken down into 6 modules that cover the following.
- What is Manual Handling
- Safe Handling
- Learning Safe Handling Habits
- Practical Manual Handling Solutions
- Use of Mechanical Aids
The practical session which is conducted via video call with our in-house trainer will consist of the trainer demonstrating the following techniques.
- Ground Lift
- Bench Lift
- Lifting to a Height
- Team Lift
- Pushing & Pulling
Manual Handling Training Course Delivery Method
This Course is The theory training will be completed via our online self managed theory course. however when doing the online practical video call our trainer will give you a quick refresher covering key elements of the course.
The practical session which is conducted via video call with our in-house trainer will consist of the trainer demonstrating multiple lifts & pushing and pulling techniques. Then you will need to try and replicate those lifts and techniques back to the trainer and they will grade you based on your ability to lift.
Refresher Training & Certification Validity Period
Refresher training is recommended at intervals not greater than 3 years.
Special Instructions For This Course
Course participants should wear loose-fitting comfortable clothing (trousers) and closed-toe shoes. Any special needs/requirements should be identified at the time of booking.
