The Fire Warden Instructor Course is designed to teach anybody to provide Fire Warden Courses with the confidence and skills to meet the requirements of both the ‘’1981 Fire Service Act’’ and ‘’Regulation 9 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005’’.
The course is ideal for employees who want to develop their current knowledge of fire safety awareness in order to assist their employer by undertaking more specific fire safety roles in the workplace to manage fire risks. However, the fire warden course is limited to 2 days.
All our course instructors hold a minimum of Train the Trainer qualification and are qualified safety practitioners holding a formal qualification in fire safety.
All successful participants will be awarded a Guardian Safety Fire Warden Instructor Certificate.

The training format will be as follows.
Day one – Fire Safety/Science
- Fire Science,
- Development the fire, smoke, and small travel
- Fire prevention
- Classes of fire
- The selection and use of fire extinguishers
During the week-long break until the final days of training, participants will continue to review the notes and presentation at home.
Day Two – Role of Fire Warden & Emergency Procedures
- Pre-fire/fire/post-fire duties of the Fire Warden
- Understanding people’s behavior in relation to fire
- Emergency plans and evacuation procedures
- Emergency lights (overview of general maintenance requirements)
- Fire extinguishers (overview of general maintenance requirements & the functions of)
- Fire alarms (overview of general maintenance requirements)
- Passive fire protection
- Active fire protection
- Running a Fire Warden Course
- Presentation on a defined topic which will be appointed by the instructor
Each participant will then give a demonstration in the use of foam and CO2 fire extinguishers which will be assessed by our internal assessor here in the training center.
A 30 minutes written test will also be given at the end of the course.

Guardian Safety Trainers
Guardian Safety is a FETAC registered training Provider and all instructors are fully qualified trainers having achieved Level 6 in the National Framework of Qualifications. All course instructors hold a minimum of Train the Trainer Qualification and are qualified safety practitioners holding a formal qualification in fire safety. Our Fire Safety expert is a member of the National Fire Safety Board.
Who should attend?
This course is ideal for trainers assigned with responsibility for training within your organization or those involved in training on a consultative basis. As this course is limited to 2 days there is no train the trainer element, therefore trainers must have some training experience when attending this course.
This course is highly practical therefore learners will be assessed throughout the day by interaction in the class and during practical demonstrations.
All participants should have previously completed Fire Warden training.
Refresher Training / Certification Validity period:
It is recommended to refresh Instructor training at intervals not greater than every 5 years.
DVD and lap/top projector presentations are used. Fire Warden/Marshal notes are provided for each participant.
A Guardian Safety Fire Warden Instructor Certificate is awarded to participants that successfully complete this course.
