Our Portable Appliance Testing PAT Testing Training Course is run in accordance with Regulation 81 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007
How is the training deliverd
The training is delivered onsite, at our premises, as face-to-face training.
Duration: 7.5 Hours
Time: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Venue: Guardian Safety, Unit C1, Centrepoint Business Park, Oak Road, Dublin 12
The PAT Testing Training Course can also be delivered privately at your premises at any time.
Aim
The aim of this Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) course is to teach employees the theory and practice of safe Portable Appliance Testing to comply with Regulation 81 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007
PAT Testing Course Objectives
Upon completion of this training participants will be able to:-
- Test portable equipment
- Certify that portable electric appliances (including any cables and plugs) were, on the day of testing, safe and without risk to any persons coming into direct or indirect contact with the portable appliance.
- Report any faults with portable appliances that have failed the test and prevent them from being put into use.
PAT Testing Course Content
- Legislation governing and Codes of Practice covering Portable Appliance Testing
- Portable Appliance Testing Theory
- Visual inspection of portable appliances
- Determining Class I and Class II portable electrical appliances
- Testing Class I appliances, Testing Class II appliances, Testing an IEC lead, and Testing an extension lead
- Understanding fuse rating
- PASS / FAIL in relation to Portable Appliances
- Labelling
- Record keeping including portable appliance maintenance
- Plug wiring and general information about how electricity works
- Identification and labelling of Portable Appliances
Certification
On successful completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate titled “Portable Appliance Testing Training” which will be awarded by Guardian Safety. This Cert will be valid for 3 years.
We issue a digital certification & all certificates are kept on file and can be re-sent if misplaced.
Refresher training is recommended at intervals of not greater than 3 years
Prerequisets
Participants must be in good physical condition to perform various practical skills.
Participants must be fluent in English.
Number of Participants Per Course
The maximum number of users per in-person course is 6
