’What is the difference between a Safety Statement & a Method Statement?..I quoted for a job and showed the client my Safety Statement…now they want a Method Statement from me????!’
The Safety Statement outlines how the Health & Safety is managed by the Employer. The Method statement is specific to a set of works in a given location. It must be site specific, it will outline Who, what, where, when, and how works will be carried out. It will state the sequence of works, precautions that must be taken, plant / tools & equipment to be used, and the actions to be taken in the event of an emergency.
